After moving from Boston to the Crocus Hill neighborhood, these St. Paul homeowners wanted a more contemporary appearance for their new home. This mindfully modern overhaul brings this home up to date while maintaining much of the original design.
The renovated kitchen now has a half-wall that connects it to the rest of the first-floor. Custom beech-wood cabinets with flat modern fronts compliment the Brazilian cherry floor.
The design of the front stairway mirrors the contemporary craftsman style of the kitchen. Brazilian cherry stair treads match the kitchen’s floors. New streamlined balusters and a new porcelain tile floor make this entryway feel welcoming and graceful.
“As anyone who has done it knows, remodeling is more likely to be a nightmare than not. Our experience with Ben Quie & Sons completely shattered that expectation. Ours consisted of several pieces: complete overhaul of our kitchen; removal and replacement of a center staircase; and extensive changes in our master bath. Every aspect of the firm’s dealing with us was exemplary. The quality of workmanship not only from Ben’s staff but from the several sub-contractors involved in the project was outstanding. The overall management and scheduling was near perfect. We were consistently amazed at how easily it seemed that the pieces of the project fit together recognizing this was a complicated set of logistics. And, the people involved were a pleasure to work with. We have no reservations about using them again or in recommending them to others.”
