Carrie Harrington, Lead Designer
Years of Design Experience—and a Love for the Details
At Ben Quie & Sons, we’re passionate about remodeling old homes with craft and care—and we’re thrilled to welcome someone who shares that passion. Interior designer Carrie Harrington brings not only a deep appreciation for historic architecture, but also the kind of hands-on experience and thoughtful design approach that truly aligns with our work.
From her early start in custom textiles to running her own business, Carrie’s journey is rooted in detail, craftsmanship, and a love for making old homes work for modern life.

Design That Feels Just Right
For Carrie, good design goes beyond layout or finishes—it’s about how a space makes you feel. She also believes in empowering her clients by showing them a range of options—even those that may fall outside the initial budget. “If something is really beautiful and could totally make the space, I think it’s still valuable to share and let the client decide,” she explains.
That sensitivity to both beauty and practicality is part of what makes her so passionate about older homes.
“I really love all old houses,” she says. “But what I like most is making them work for how families live today. People live very differently than when these homes were built, and I enjoy the challenge of enhancing the function while keeping the ‘feel’ of the original home.”

Beyond the Blueprint
When she’s not working on design projects, Carrie loves to travel and explore new places. Some of her favorite memories include biking in Mexico City, volunteering in Puerto Rico, and touring a marble quarry in Carrara, Italy. She also enjoys gardening, attending home tours, and—true to form—always has a house project (or two) in the works.
And when we asked her favorite tool? Not a traditional one.
“My favorite tool is a sense of humor—it might not cut wood, but it cuts tension. Laughing always helps reduce stress, and let’s face it—remodeling your house can be stressful!”

Fun fact! Carrie and longtime Lead Designer Mary Ellen share more than a love for old homes—they also share a serious appreciation for a cold Diet Coke!

We’re excited to welcome Carrie to the design team at Ben Quie & Sons. Her background in historic homes and client-focused approach make her a natural fit. While the work shown here was completed prior to her time with us, it offers a glimpse into the thoughtful, detail-driven style she brings to the table.
