A Bathroom That Grows with the Family
As part of this 1907 Summit Hill home’s whole-bathroom renovation, the hall bath was remodeled for a busy family. While the primary bathroom was created as a relaxing retreat, this space was designed to reflect the energy and personality of four young children. The challenge was introducing color and pattern without creating a bathroom the family would outgrow, pairing playful design with custom millwork and durable materials built to last.

Removing an Unnecessary Doorway
Originally, the bathroom devoted valuable wall space to a second access point through a set of French doors. While charming, the extra doorway limited storage, reduced privacy, and made the room less functional for a family of six. Removing the doors opened the door to a more practical layout, with custom millwork that respected the home’s traditional architecture while making better use of every inch.
A playful geometric wallpaper adds personality and a traditional twist. Classic white subway tile and marble surfaces keep the palette grounded in timeless materials.
Designed to Belong
Relocating the tub against the wall created a deep cavity beside the new double vanity. Rather than leaving it as unused space, it became a built-in storage wall inspired by the integrated cabinetry often found in early 20th-century homes.
The vanity, full-height storage cabinet, and mirrored medicine cabinet were designed as one continuous composition.
Together, they create a strong architectural presence while providing the storage a busy family needs.
Color with Character
Paneled wainscoting carries the custom millwork throughout the room, giving the bathroom a strong architectural foundation. Soft blue extends across the cabinetry and wainscoting, making color feel like an integral part of the design rather than a decorative accent.
The result is a family bathroom that feels fun for young children today while remaining classic enough to grow with them for years to come.
