Keeping it in the Family
When the phone rang, we recognized a familiar voice. It was cousin Quie in need of a bathroom remodel for himself, his wife, and their two kids.

Notice that the floor plan transforms from a square (pictured on the left) to a rectangle (pictured on the right), thereby giving this family more room for their daily bathroom routines. The plans show us that the tub was shifted over to make room for a larger sink and vanity while the toilet remained. We also slightly shifted the door and reconfigured the closet in the hallway. Also a neat addition: a privacy wall!

In this project, some of the challenges faced were fixing those usual old-house problems. Particular to this home, we ensured that corners were plumb and square, refinished the radiator, and incorporated adequate storage into the design plan.
Imagine sliding the glass door and slipping in to take a warm bubble bath in this deep soaker tub. There’s also a towel bar handle so your fluffy, dry towel is just an arm’s reach away.
The old storm window was kept for exterior continuity. However, we replaced the wood window sashes with a frosted insulated glass pane. This provides a waterproof window and provides privacy without sacrificing natural light. Meanwhile, the insulated glass keeps your shower nice and warm!
Tired of always picking up dirty laundry off the floor? Before jumping in the shower, toss those dirty clothes down the laundry chute. A clever design conceals this elevated laundry chute and adds extra function with a hinged door and storage
To match this bathroom’s simple clean lines, a custom vanity with flat-slab inset doors and drawers were installed. Perfect for a variety of the designs, the Kohler Verdera medicine cabinet is equipped with a mirror on the outside, inside, and back of the cabinet. This inset mirror is perfect in a small room because it provides extra storage and the feeling of spaciousness.
