Green Tile Bathroom Remodel with a Curbless Shower

Serene Retreat

Design That Elevates Everyday Living

The design choices that matter most are often found in the spaces you use every day. This green tile bathroom design shows how color—when used thoughtfully—can feel calm, timeless, and easy to live with. As part of a larger remodel that also included the kitchen and primary bedroom, the homeowners’ main bathroom was reimagined as a spa-like space designed for daily comfort.

Reworking the Bathroom Footprint

Before: The layout was tight, with much of the space consumed by the chimney and an oversized linen closet.
In progress: a clean slate!

Removing the chimney allowed us to redesign the bathroom layout, creating space for more storage and a generous, spa-like shower.

A Balanced Approach to Bathroom Design

The design of this bathroom is rooted in balance. Each element was selected to work together:

  • Deep green glazed tile wrapping the room and shower walls, creating a rich, cohesive backdrop with subtle variation and depth
  • Warm wood vanity that grounds the space and balances the cooler tones of tile and stone
  • Curbless shower design creates a clean, uninterrupted feel while removing the step-in threshold for safer, easier entry.
Look closely—you’ll notice even the shower bench is heated!

What Lies Beneath: In-Floor Heat

In-floor heat is one of those upgrades you don’t notice—until you can’t imagine the bathroom without it.

Installed beneath the tile, radiant heat gently warms the floor from the ground up, creating even, consistent comfort throughout the space.

Plus, it helps tile floors dry faster and reduces cold-floor shock—key for chilly Minnesota mornings!

A Modern Influence with Flexibility

To bring in a modern influence, the homeowners chose a vanity reminiscent of mid-century furniture. We paired it with a custom linen cabinet designed to complement the vanity today, while remaining simple enough to work with a variety of styles in the future.

Quietly Efficient

A highly functional kitchen remodel in a 1942 Macalester–Groveland home, thoughtfully designed to fit the scale of the house.

Reclaiming the Attic

In a modest-sized home, space matters—and every square foot needs to earn its keep. This attic had potential, but it wasn’t living up to it.

Blends Perfectly

We were able to make major changes to the house while keeping its “soul” intact. The new work blends in perfectly with the original design of the house while accommodating our needs as a modern family.
