Early 2000s North Oaks Primary Bathroom Remodel
“Old” isn’t always a number—it’s often a feeling. In many homes from this era, oversized tubs, unusual layouts, and darker finishes can start to quickly feel dated over time.
Having worked with one of our designers before, the homeowners returned with a clear goal: update their primary bathroom to better fit how they live today, while keeping the design appropriate to the home itself.

Then & Now: Refining the Design
Rethinking the Layout
The original footprint created a series of constraints that limited how the space could function. By removing the oversized tub, we were able to shift the shower into a more intentional location and tuck the toilet away, giving the layout a clearer sense of order and privacy.
Refining the Design
Before, the space relied heavily on contrast, layered materials, and too many competing finishes, which made it feel busier than it needed to be. The new design takes a more disciplined approach. A simplified palette and more natural materials allow the finishes to work with the light, rather than against it.

Replicated Design Details
The existing window and door casing featured a subtle but distinctive detail, which we carried into the vanity design. Maple cabinetry with cherry corner blocks creates continuity and ties the new work back to the original character of the home.
Homes in North Oaks often have the space—but not always the layout—to support how people want to live today. Projects like this demonstrate how making thoughtful adjustments that improve comfort, function, and longevity.

Bright & Airy Shower
Extending the glass allows natural light from the nearby windows to move more freely through the space, making the shower feel open, bright, and comfortable to use every day.

Smart Storage, Right Where It’s Needed
Just outside the shower, a custom linen cabinet with matching detail ties into the overall design while adding practical storage. Adjustable shelves and a built-in hamper keep everything contained without drawing attention.
